A cute little spot in a nice area with lots of great shops around. My friend and I grabbed dinner here before a concert and it was a great sit down meal. We ordered a couple appetizers, the miso soup and the pork dumplings. The dumplings are fired but they weren't too oily and the crispy outside was nice. We ordered 3 rolls to share, the rainbow, the Baja Fresh, and the pink lady. All were very good. They weren't anything fancy, extravagant, or over the top, just solid sushi rolls. So if you are looking for a reliable sushi roll I would recommend. The place was busy so the service felt a little slow. We weren't in a huge rush though so it wasn't a big deal. We didn't get any more attention that to have our order taken and be brought our food.

Everything we tried was delicious and more importantly reasonably priced. The basic California roll was perfect for $6, their pork katsu was huge and crispy crunchy for $13 and their chicken fried rice was a huge portion for $14. Unfortunately we went during a busy dinner time rush so the service was slow. But I don't really hold it against them. The atmosphere was pleasant so they made up for it.

One of my complaints since moving to Nashville was finding good sushi close by. It all just was lackluster. Now that I found Maru I can have sushi whenever I want. I also love their chicken tempura. The food always seems fresh. I've now gotten it delivered more than I've gone to the actual restaurant. It always arrives still hot or cold depending on the dish. I'm picky about sushi and normally won't do take out with it, but Maru is so good that I will. My sister is a vegetarian and has been able to find plenty of dishes she likes too. Really a great neighborhood restaurant.

This is by far THE BEST sushi spot in East Nashville. It may actually be one of THE BEST in Nashville. Service is always great and prompt. You honestly can't go wrong with anything that you order here. There is usually a wait so plan accordingly. I can't say that I have a favorite roll here, so get multiple at a time. What you don't eat there you can take to go.

During my visit to Nashville in late July, I suggested sushi for dinner. My sister and brother-in-law suggested this place as they had ordered takeout from here numerous times. Arriving here on a Friday around 7ish, we were quickly seated and served. As with most sushi spots, they have the sushi station in the middle so you can see how the sushi is prepped. It's a way to entertain yourself if you're mesmerized by food preparation. As for dishes, we started with the agedashi tofu which is fried tofu with Japanese bonito & scallions. Pretty tasty, especially dipping in the soy sauce. Good texture and comes with 4 pieces. As for entrees, we split a Shrimp Udon noodles, the Pork Katsu, and the Baked sushi (Volcano roll and Shrimp Supreme roll). The noodles were alright; pretty standard with the stir fry and sauce but you know what you're getting with it. The Pork Katsu was a favorite as the pork was tender and breaded nicely. We liked it so much I forgot to snap a photograph since we were busy gorging it. Both baked sushi dishes tasted good. I liked the Volcano roll the most with the fried shrimp and avocado topped with salmon, spicy tuna, and the eel sauce. Textures of the baked sushi is unorthodox for me. It's a popular dish there and people seem to take a liking to it. I prefer my sushi to be classically handrolled. At least I can now say I've tasted it. We were pretty full after our meals so no dessert although the fried oreo and tempura ice cream looked tempting. This is a popular spot and I look forward to coming back and trying other items. No baked sushi for me though, I'll stick with the handrolled types!
